Vicky loved cats! So it was to her great delight when she saw a scraggly orange and white longhaired stray cat, while holidaying by a lake. Vicky named the cat Sunny because the cat's fur looked like a part of the fluffy orange clouds dropped down from the sunset sky. Though Mom disliked cats, she agreed that Vicky could play with Sunny outside their cabin. Vicky and Sunny became great friends, until Mom found the cat inside the cabin and swept her out with a broom. Sunny hid in the woods and could not be found before the family returned to the city the next day. She was alone in the woods. In the city, Vicky could not forget her friend, Sunny, How to save Sunny from the onset of fall, when her food would hibernate or fly south, involved Vicky in some humorous and tense incidents that led to an unexpected conclusion.
